March to May selection

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

Join us as we read The Midnight Library by Matt Haig (MA English Literature 1998). Leeds alum, Matt Haig, is an author who blurs the lines between genres, blending fantasy, myth and science fiction to create some of the most inventive and enduringly popular contemporary fiction.

Three steps to reading with us.

1. Join our Leeds Alumni Book Club - for free.

2. Read The Midnight Library.

3. Sign in and talk about the book with other Leeds alumni.

Make sure you join our virtual Leeds Alumni Book Club — for free. You’ll enjoy thought-provoking discussions with other Leeds alumni.

How do the book club discussions work?

A moderator will lead your conversations, encourage debate, suggest points to consider and share relevant articles. This format allows for ongoing conversation and makes it easy for Leeds alumni to connect with each other. The moderator is from the company PBC Guru, who are helping us run the club.

Will the book club meet in person?

No. The book club will be entirely online. This means that alumni all over the world can take part and we’ll all benefit from a diverse range of perspectives.

How often will books be read and what is the time commitment?

One or two hours a week should be enough to keep you on track with the Leeds Alumni Book Club. We will read a book every two months. There’s no required participation in group discussions so if you find yourself short on time, don't stress.

How do I get hold of the books?

You will need to supply your own book. The book can be physical or digital.

How much do I have to pay?

You're lucky. As a Leeds alum, you don't need to pay for the book club.

How are books selected?

Your club will vote to decide which book we read next. You'll be invited to suggest books for inclusion in these regular voting sessions.
